You’re a smart, stylish and business savvy woman, right? Then, you know how important happiness plays into this kind of abundant lifestyle, yea?
You’re responsible to play an active role 40% of the time to experience a level of happiness you won’t want to let go.
Here’s the thing, most individuals haven’t got a clue as to what is the 40%, let alone what to even do for that 40%.
I’m about to help you discover the most direct path to YOUR HAPPINESS with a simple tool, formula, or experience if you may.
I’m not going to deny that money provides me happiness. Money motivates me, money gives me fuel to give more, do more, and quite frankly, achieve more.
I’m not ashamed or embarrassed to say I love money and money helps fuel the healthy nutrition in my kitchen, the experiences I have with my husband and 4 yr old twins, and to serve more women by building my business.
However, deep down money is really only a circumstance when it comes to our happiness. And guess what? According to my go-to book The How of Happiness, by Sonja Lyubomirsky, circumstances only make up 10% of our happiness.
Because we all have a baseline of happiness:
50% of our happiness is made up of our genetics and the influence of our upbringing
10% of circumstances
40% of our thoughts and actions
What does this mean?
It means, If you say, “I’d be happier if I was married, had more money, or had a baby”, most likely you’d be happier for a little bit, but will eventually revert back to your baseline. Because this is only 10% of your happiness.
How to REALLY tap into Your Happiness
We are responsible for the 40% of our thoughts and actions, which can undoubtedly make an impact. Especially when we discover the right tools, formulas, and experiences to ignite our happiness within.
Here’s a surefire way, an exercise I use and has helped thousands of women I’ve worked with. This will push you to dig deeper within your mind first, so that you can have the most direct path to your happiness.
The direct path is Self-awareness and in order to be able to tap into this skill you must learn the “Get All A’s” formula.
Discover Your Power of Self-Acceptance, Appreciation and Personal Achievement
I encourage you to carve out about 30 minutes to practice the exercise I provide below. You can use this time to keep it simple and meditate through these questions, you can grab a pen and paper and journal them out, or you can voice record your thoughts.
The goal is to practice the exercise over and over to release/let go of all your thoughts. Over the years, those who continue to implement this exercise within their life, release on a deeper level each time, finding it more therapeutic and leading to more happiness.
We start with “Self-Acceptance”—Over the years of my life I have realized that these essential actions create who we are and who we become; in order to appreciate, you first need to accept, embrace, or own. Accept who you are, what you have, and the situations you stumble across. (I don’t want to to settle. there is a difference)
When you accept, you welcome your opportunity to appreciate the physical attributes of you, your mental health and the materialistic possessions in your life.
After accepting and appreciating, comes your achievements. How can you achieve anything in life if you don’t accept or appreciate it?
Think about that.
And then how does Happiness play into that?
So here we go! Answer these questions and for your first time, don’t think too hard and RELEASE…..Don’t hold back and let go of everything that comes to mind. Remember, there is no right or wrong, no silly statements or the fear of feeling vain.
The goal is to use this tool so that you can ACCEPT and EMBRACE your core soul—identity and discover what makes you happy.
This exercise is PART of the 40% piece of your happiness—your thoughts and actions.
- What have you accepted within your life, physically and/or mentally? Additionally, what are you still working on accepting? Now, we’re not talking about resignation, rather stepping into, embraced, and owned.
- What have you learned to appreciate about yourself and/or within your life, physically and mentally? On the other hand OR in contrast, are there elements of who you are that you’re still working on appreciating?
- What is one of your most rewarding achievements in life? Tell us not only what makes YOU most proud but also share the goals and dreams that you still have.
In addition to these 3 questions, your goal is to discover and take the most direct path for your happiness—and that is finding activities that bring you joy.
Start playing an active role within your life that gives you love, laughter, passion and energy!
Moving forward, your answers can be random or in the moment or they can be aligned with a current circumstance, obstacle or situation you may be facing.
