Following the November 2018 world auction record for a bottle of whiskey (The Macallan 1926 60-Year-Old sold at Christie’s for $1,528,800), The Macallan unveils a new, rare and limited edition single malt whiskey, which comes at a much more reasonable, albeit still hefty, price. The Macallan 52 Year whiskey has just been released, and with only 250 bottles worldwide, they are quite coveted bottles to get your hands on.
The new release has been aged for 52 years in a single, hand-crafted European oak sherry cask from Spain, giving it oak, peaty flavors. Add to that flavors of cinnamon and ginger, and you have an incredibly smooth, complex and unique whiskey. The Macallan whisky maker, Sarah Burgess, says, “this wonderfully rare single malt is full of rich spicy flavors and has a beautiful ruby mahogany natural color. Bottled at an ABV of 48% where all the flavors became perfectly balanced, The Macallan 52 Years old is an outstanding addition to our expanding range of unique, classic-aged whiskies.”
One of the most delicious whiskies we’ve ever had the honor of trying, and the brand’s unparalleled commitment to quality, it’s no surprise that this limited edition single malt is selling for a high price. With only 42 of the 250 bottles coming to the United States, the suggested retail price is $53,500 per bottle. For purchasing inquiries, interested parties can e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
