If you’re anything like me, you had already long forgotten about your New Year’s resolutions by January 2. The first day of February is a chance for you (and me) to return to our original goals and give our New Year’s resolutions another try. Whether you plan to get fit or eliminating stress these simple steps will help you stick with your objectives…for real this time.

Get Fit

Getting in shape is one of the number one resolutions people make each year but it can also be one of the hardest to keep. We may be discouraged when we don’t see results right away or give up when we miss out on a session at the gym. Don’t fret! Restart your goal by making it obtainable. Vow to take the stairs instead of the escalator or get off one subway stop earlier and walk the extra blocks to your office. Keep yourself accountable by investing in a Fitbit that can help you track your steps and your fitness sessions if you opt for a run or the gym. You can even challenge your friends on who can manage the most steps throughout the week. Game on!

Stress Less

Stress is an inevitable part of life but you can find ways to reduce it. Start your morning with a simple practice promoted in Yoga: take five minutes to check yourself for areas of tension and use simple breathing patterns to relax. Think inhale for four counts, retain for four counts and then exhale for four counts. You will already start out your day with a better mindset. After work stress? Coloring is no longer for kids. In a Huffington Post article, psychologist Gloria  Martínez Alaya says that coloring brings us back to our childhood, a time of less stress, and also allows our brains to shift focus away from our worries.

Get Organized

Everyone dreams of beautifully organized closets and pantries à la Khloe Kardashian but between managing a career, a social life and a family not everyone has time to troll the aisles of The Container Store looking for the newest organization methods. If you’re looking to get organized this year start small. Tackle one or two projects a week and soon your life will be a perfectionist’s dream. If you are someone who constantly feels like they are always running around start by organizing your schedule. Planners and calendars that are in a visible area are a good place to start. If your biggest organization issue is that you can never find that sweater or pair of shoes in the mess you call a closet it may be time to invest in a few bins and baskets.

Enjoy Life to the Fullest

According to Time, living life to the fullest is the top resolution of 2016. Whether it is enjoying time with family, taking advantage of an opportunity to travel or just being grateful for the things we have already in our lives there a plenty of ways to enjoy life. Being more present or mindful is a great step to enjoying life even more. So often we are always on the move with our noses in our phones and internally wishing we could live in the Instagram feed we are so intently stalking but there is something to be said for taking a minute to stop and take acknowledge what we have in our own lives. In three easy steps you can be more present: focus on what is right in from of you and see them as if it is for the first time, observe how you are truly feeling in that moment, and take a deep breath.

Save Money

Saving money is difficult and if you’ve already started your new year off by splurging on a new item (or items) for your closet it can seem like a lost cause however with a few easy changes you can get back on track. Mint is a great app that gives you an overall look at how much money you are making, spending and saving all in one place. You can set budgets for everything from rent and utilities to clothing or food. The app can also analyze your spending habits and make suggestions on where to save and can alert you when you are approaching your budget for the month.
