We caught up with the always glamorous Maria Menounos, “Extra” host and author of “The EveryGirl’s Guide to Guide and Fitness” to dish about how she lost 40 pounds and kept it off.


A food journal is critical. “You’ll be surprised when you actually get to see just how much you’ve consumed.  It also helps immensely to keep you on track when attempting to cut back and to eat healthier.”


Portable snacks are key. Her faves?“Almonds or Greek yogurt.”


No exercise excuses. “I apply exercises within my day where and when it’s most convenient. If I know I won’t have time to go to the gym or engage in an official workout, I’ll do whatever is convenient such as taking the stairs as opposed to an elevator or do some squats or calf raises while I’m brushing my teeth or taking off my make up.”


It’s a marathon, not a sprint.  “A long-term approach of journaling your food and slowly cutting back week to week will have you in better shape. It may take months or even a year or so but you will lose the weight.”
