What are the benefits of breast augmentation?

The benefits of breast augmentation varies from improved physical appearance, to a boost in confidence and self-esteem. Women want to look more shapely, and balance their breasts to the rest of their body.  Having a breast augmentation can reintroduce volume that was lost over time.  It can often correct other cosmetic issues including a difference in one breast from the other.

Who would be the ideal candidate for a breast augmentation?

The ideal breast augmentation candidate is a person who is healthy, has small breasts, and has reasonable expectations.  Natural looking results require a well preformed surgery, coupled with proper implant sizing and positioning.  Every patient is different.  It is important that you discuss your expectations with your surgeon, and that those expectations are reasonable for your body.

What should the patient do in preparation for their consultation?

Patients should prepare for their consultations.  You should make the most out of the valuable time with your surgeon.  You should have your medical history and medications readily available.  You should also have the details of any prior surgeries available, especially any breast related procedures.  You should also have an idea of your expectations for the surgery, what breast size you would like to be, bring in some bras, photos, etc.  I want my patients to be happy with their results.  Pre-operative discussion of expectations is always a great way to start.
