“Headphones for Haiti” at Openhouse Gallery

| June 26, 2014 | Reply

On Wednesday evening, an eclectic crowd gathered in Nolita  for “Headphones for Haiti”, an initiative of Monster Cares ™ , a division of Monster dedicated to supporting local charities focusing on education, music, sports and technology.

The event raised money to construct EPAC Haiti:  Enigma Performing Arts Center of Haiti, designed by renowned architect Kevin Roche, responsible for buildings such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Ford Foundation. On view at Openhouse Gallery were ten intricately hand-painted headphones by Haitian painters such as Philippe Dodard, Patricia Brintle and Frantz Zephirin.  Alongside each pair of headphones was an original painting with all proceeds benefiting the arts center.

One hundred Inspiration™ headphones were generously donated by Monster to serve as “blank canvases” for the artists and the remaining pieces will be auctioned off at through July 2.
