Girls Night Out in the Garden State with Eric Alt Salon

| June 18, 2014 | Reply

Whether you live in the city or nearby New Jersey, the Westfield Garden State Plaza just across the Hudson River from Manhattan is a fabulous place to shop. Here, Neiman Marcus and Eric Alt Salon recently partnered in hosting an appreciation event where attendees enjoyed complimentary hair and makeup services, head shot photo sessions, sparkling wine cocktails and hors d’oeuvres.

Eric Altomare, celebrity hair stylist and owner of Eric Alt Salon, said part of the reason for bringing people together at a ‘Girls Night Out’ was to show that they can take their hair from everyday to glam in as little as 15 minutes. He also wanted to introduce the new Braid Bar, a concept that’s already gaining popularity in New York and elsewhere around the world.

The Braid Bar, which Eric Alt Salon is launching this summer, allows customers to walk in and have their hair dry shampooed and braided for $25. It’s perfect for those who want to rock a unique look with short notice and limited budget before a special occasion.

In addition to its three Bergen County, NJ locations, Eric Alt Salon has a private loft space on West 38th St. in the Fashion District to accommodate celebrities and other clients for one-on-one consultations. Hours are by appointment only.

Altomare explained what sets his salon apart. “We’re always trying to do something cutting-edge, that maybe hasn’t been done in the area or hasn’t really been brought to the surface yet,” he said. “My team is supremely creative and I encourage them to think outside the box and do something different. Just because it hasn’t been done doesn’t mean it can’t happen. I think that’s one of our biggest trademarks.”

One hot trend Eric Alt Salon is pulling to the forefront this season? Hair painting. “It’s a new way of highlighting and achieving multi-dimensional color without ever using foils,” Altomare said. “What’s cool about it is, you get this sun-drenched look, similar to the models of Victoria’s Secret, very sexy and loose; but then it’s also environmentally friendly because we’re not throwing away all these foils anymore.”

When Altomare noticed how many bags of foils were being tossed out in the trash each day, he started exploring alternative ways to reduce environmental impact. “It’s important that we be conscious about how much waste happening,” he said. “The hair industry tends to be very unconscious of that at times but I think we’re turning a new leaf with steps like organic color and even how we’re rinsing things.”

As if the outstanding Eric Alt Salon hair and Neiman Marcus makeup services weren’t enough to make ‘Girls Night Out’ an unforgettable evening, ladies got to walk away with stunning reminders in the form of black and white digital head shots capturing their fresh looks.
