What was your inspiration and vision for creating MDollNYC?

MDOLLNYC is your online fashion and styling destination. You can stop by to be inspired and informed about fashion. From the amazing events I attend, travel experiences and more — I like to show the world my style and accomplishments. MDOLLNYC combines elements and looks from the runway while mixing them with her own street style and always giving you a fresh spin. This is more than a blog, it’s a way to stay fabulous and be inspired. My vision in creating my blog is a Latina Doll born in Caracas, Venezuela who moved to New York to live her American dream. I enjoy showing the love I have for this fabulous city that has my heart. By creating MDOLLNYC I also aim to inspire young girls worldwide to develop their own unique style, to be positive, confident, determined and always believe that all fashion dreams will be achieved if you are dedicated in doing what you love.

Who are some of your fashion, style and beauty icons?

My icons definitely vary! Some of my style icons are; Coco Chanel, Carolina Herrera, Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly, Elizabeth Taylor, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Halle Berry, Scarlett Johansson, Eva Mendez, Rihanna, Blake Lively, Olivia Palermo and Kendall Jenner.

How would you describe your style?

Very feminine, chic, classy, stylish and at times simple… but there’s always something that stands out when I put my looks together.

What are your spring must-haves?

The nice weather is here in the city and I am celebrating with some fabulous fashions. Yellow heels are a must! Fringe, shirt-dresses, something denim, jewelry inspired metallic temporary tattoos, midi skirts or midi dresses. I also adore florals.

Where do you like to go out in the city?

Soho is my favorite area to shop and brunch. There are so many choices in the city to visit, but here are a few of my favorites; Isola at the Mondrian Hotel, The Sugar Factory, 230 Fifth, Mr H., The Empire Rooftop, Brass Lexington, Le Bain at The Standard, Dream Downtown NYC. Ladurée and The Red Door Spa.

Share your insight and advice to other women looking to start a blog and work in the fashion industry.

My advice is to put spiritual belief in your life first and every dream planted in your head and hearts desire will come true. Always be yourself and believe in your own dreams. If one door closes, don’t feel discouraged because every opportunity is not for you. Don’t stop there, keep working hard and keep going. As a blogger I’ve navigated many rocky roads, but looking back now — almost everything I’ve asked for and wanted has come true. In my almost 5 years of blogging, day by day I am getting there. This journey has been amazing and to see myself grow is very rewarding. Living my American Dream coming from another country like Venezuela could be a little harder but that never stopped me. I remain true to myself always and continue to work hard for what I believe in. I am capable of achieving anything I set my mind to in my fashion career. I do not and will never compare myself to others because each person has a their own path and story. Remember we are all unique, with different styles and beautiful in our own way. The key to success is believe, inspire and be yourself always.

Since we are fully embracing the spring/summer season – what are your favorite flowers to accent your look or decorate your home with?

Peonies in pink and white with hydrangeas are gorgeous. I am the happiest girl when I see beautiful flowers, plus it gives the home such a fabulous and elegant fashion touch.

About the Author ()

I come from a long line of journalists who taught me the valuable lesson of writing about what you love. For me, it’s all about finding that line where hip new trends meet timeless elegance – Audrey Hepburn in a bandage dress and a pair of Louboutins. Whether I’m sitting at New York Fashion Week or at a bistro table enjoying a macaroon and cappuccino, whatever inspires me, drives me. My philosophy is and has always been “It might as well be someone – it may as well be you.” Tweet me: @Danaprigge
