Roaming the halls of public high school, dancing on the school drill team—life was simple for Hayley Orrantia before being booked as “Erica Goldberg” on ABC Network’s The Goldbergs. Now she is acting alongside Hollywood heavy hitters, Wendi McLendon-Covey and Jeff Garlin.
Orrantia started taking acting classes in her hometown, Dallas, TX, at the age of 15. Her classes with Cathryn Sullivan, led to her connecting to great agents in Dallas and Los Angeles. Her agents kept her busy, consistently going to auditions—leading to a big break in 2016, starring on the silver screen in “God’s Not Dead 2.”
Hayley was offered a featured single, “Silence You”, on the soundtrack for the film. Singing has always been a priority Orrantia, her acting career stemmed from the desire to have a larger platform to share her story, through music. Finally, she was getting the opportunities that she had been waiting for. After her soundtrack single was released, she was able to lend her voice to many Disney albums.
Despite her initial success, Orranita learned early in the business that there would always be lows along with the highs in your career. “You really have to have patience and tough skin in this business,” she says. “You can’t take anything personally if you don’t get a role. It comes down to being prepared, working hard and being in the right place at the right time.” It took many auditions and waiting for call backs before she solidified her spot on The Goldbergs.
Five seasons later, the actress and songstress has been busy balancing her work. However, she still tries to maintain a sense of normalcy. “It could be difficult [to stay connected with friends and family]. I juggle my schedule but I always make time for my social life, it’s important to me.” She makes sure to stay connected with her loved ones. When she isn’t on set, her days are spent running errands, binge-watching Netflix, catching the occasional nap and of course making music.
Landing the consistent role on TV did not stunt her desire to create music. She has come a long way from her days with the former girl group, Lakoda Rayne. The group was placed in the Top 10 during the first season of ‘X-Factor.’ Since then she has had the opportunity to breakout and gain recognition as a solo artist. Working with music producer Mark Bright, Orrantina has released about five original songs. In-between shooting, she heads to Nashville as often as she can to team up with talented songwriters to produce more tracks.
2018 is going to be a huge year for Hayley as she gears up for her 25-date music tour in the Spring. While you are patiently waiting for the star to come to your city, check out Hayley Orrantia’s newest single “Give Me Back Sunday”, along with her other songs, on iTunes and Spotify. This girl is showing that she is thriving in her acting career and she is planning to take the music world by storm. We will definitely be hearing more from Hayley Orrantia soon, and we can’t wait!
