With the ski season just around the corner, skiers are beginning to plan their winter vacations. It is no secret that Vermont is a skier’s paradise. Blessed with topography that’s ideally suited for downhill activities, the Green Mountain State welcomes skiers of all ability levels.
Located in southern part of the state, only four hours from New York City, Mount Snow is Vermont’s most easily accessible ski resort. As such, skiers can enjoy all that Vermont has to offer without spending an excessive amount of time in the car. Who needs that hassle?
Although Mount Snow will please everyone’s tastes – from basic beginners to advanced skiers – its intermediate terrain is among the best in the east. With wide trails that provide plenty of elbow room for skiers and boarders, each is expertly groomed to a perfect corduroy surface each day. In all, 73 percent of its 83 trails provide intermediate skiers with the type of terrain they crave. There are 121 acres of glade skiing available for those who desire to break away from the designated trails. In the event that nature doesn’t cooperate, 80 percent of its terrain is covered by an extensive snowmaking system.
Being here is more than a skiing experience. Mount Snow offers a variety of vacation options even for the non-skier in the group. A tubing park is located just below the Grand Summit Resort Hotel which is serviced by a magic carpet lift. Snowshoeing on specially marked on-mountain trails affords outdoor enthusiasts the opportunity to participate in an activity that is fun for all ages. Snowmobile tours that run through the scenic Green Mountain National Forest are a favorite way to spend a day for many guests.
The exquisite Grand Summit Resort Hotel is the centerpiece of Mount Snow and provides guests with luxurious accommodations. With 196 charmingly appointed rooms, studios, multi-room suites including penthouses for a romantic getaway or hosting family and friends, this idyllic four-season lodge is the perfect getaway for the discerning traveler. Each is richly appointed with fixtures such as wrought iron floor and table lamps, wainscoting trim, separate vanity areas, natural wood furnishings and private balconies. All of this is located trailside with a host of amenities available on-site, so you never have to walk more than a few steps from the hotel to get to just about any activity you can imagine.
After a long day testing their mettle on the slopes, all skiers need a little pampering. The resort’s NatureSpa will rejuvenate you with their Winter Warmer, a head to toe beautifier featuring ginger sugar body polish, nourishing winter spice body butter massage and seasonal facial. Or experience a message wrap of grapefruit, ginger, and clove infuses essential nutrients to refresh the weather worn.
Food is serious business at Mount Snow as guests can choose from eight dining establishments on site. For casual dining there’s a wide selection of delectable burgers, specialty sandwiches, griddled cheeses and thick milkshakes. Gourmet entrees feature seasonally inspired trademark cuisine with all natural ingredients and the freshest meats and seafood. Enjoy a Vermont Strip Steak with Szechuan-cabernet demi, braised wild mushrooms, whipped golden potatoes, and vegetables, or delight in a perfectly prepared Spicy Miso Salmon filet with spicy pear relish, sesame emulsion, gingered risotto and vegetables. Wash it all down with one of the many vintage American beers that are available on tap.
