Ultra Violet Sweeps Through NYC

“The Color Purple” made it big on Broadway. Now, Ultra Violet is making its own mark on the Big Apple.

Pantone recently introduced Ultra Violet as the 2018 Color of the Year. According to Pantone, Ultra Violet suggests mindfulness, new discoveries and refuge from today’s over-stimulated world. It’s a dramatically proactive and thoughtful shade of purple that guides people towards discovery and creativity. To celebrate the color of the year, BELLA NYC has found two hotels in the city that incorporate the color into their offerings, whether it be in the form of cocktails, lighting or amenities.

Gansevoort Meatpacking NYC

Gansevoort Meatpacking NYC has made Ultra Violet its signature pop of color integrating the hue throughout the hotel including accent furniture in the guestrooms, a violet pool table in the lobby, and the iridescent color lighting up the building’s exterior after dark.

Offering a retreat from the urban metropolis surrounding it, Gansevoort Meatpacking houses Plunge Rooftop Bar + Lounge, Exhale Fitness + Spa to revive and restore, and Glam + Go for guests to refresh their look. The 186 guestrooms are equipped with plush featherbeds, goose-down pillows, products by L’Occitane en Provence and Ultra Violet accents. Indulge yourself with a two-bedroom Duplex Penthouse Suite for an unforgettable experience that includes two levels with 25 foot floor-to-ceiling windows. Dine at The Chester Biergarten + American Eatery. The Chester’s rustic dining room is designed with exposed white brick walls and accented reclaimed wood tabletops, contrasted by brown leather couches in order to create a contemporary atmosphere.

The Lobby Bar, The Bowery Hotel

Those looking to capture the color of the year in a cocktail can head to The Lobby Bar at the Bowery Hotel on the Lower East Side. Here, Head Mixologist Josh DeMarco recently unveiled a new seasonal menu complete with the Butterfly Vesper, a variant of the classic James Bond cocktail, The Vesper. This cocktail is unique as it uses a Butterfly Pea flower-infused gin made in British Columbia, giving it a deep indigo/violet hue.

A favorite among A-listers, NYC locals and guests, The Lobby Bar at The Bowery Hotel is a timeless New York treasure at the intersection of Lower East Side and East Village. From the moment guests walk into the hotel, a crackling fireplace welcomes a warm, unhurried atmosphere with dark-wood paneling, vintage furniture and oriental rugs. Designers Eric Goode and Sean MacPherson handpicked all the antique chairs and sofas, which are softly illuminated by chandelier-like iron fixtures. There is no background music in the intimate space, encouraging conversation among friends and strangers. The hotel features 17 stories with floor to ceiling industrial styled windows that offer vantage points for remarkable city views, and a residential loft design that embodies New York City luxury.
