Ocean Prime: A Master of Steak and Seafood

Located in the heart of midtown, this centrally located purveyor of fresh and regional flavors is a pre-theater delight and a luxurious dinner destination in its own right.

From the moment you arrive, Ocean Prime sets high expectations with its sleek curbside appeal. Upon entering, guests are awed by stunning high ceilings, modern design and sophisticated touches throughout.

Diners hoping to kick off the experience with spirits in hand will not be disappointed. Ocean Prime offers a variety of drink menus.

In the mood for a smooth Kentucky bourbon? There are several from which to choose on the American whiskey menu. Or, if you’d rather sip wine or try a cocktail, there is a wide array of sophisticated choices.

During a recent visit, Ocean Prime offered a Cucumber Gimlet and Ruby Red cocktail, among others. We can recommend the luscious Berries and Bubbles cocktail, a blend of Belvedere Citrus Vodka, marinated blackberries, house-made sour, Domaine Chandon Brut and dry ice smoke.

Ocean Prime is a master of steak and seafood, but surf-and-turf doesn’t begin to describe the wide array of made-from-scratch options donning its menu.

A recently revamped theatre menu caters to diners with little time before the show but discerning palates. The three-course meal includes an appetizer, entrée with a side and dessert.

We started with French Onion soup, hot and delicious, with a cheesy top layer, followed by delightfully crisp Caesar salad with Parmesan garlic dressing.

Fortunately, Ocean Prime’s theatre menu offers a pared-back list of options — an 8-ounce filet, Murray’s Farm Chicken, Teriyaki Salmon, and Twin Tails– because choosing an entrée may be the toughest decision you’ll make.

Each is accompanied by a “surf” of your choice — shrimp scampi, crab cake or sea scallops — and a side. We went all-in for the perfectly cooked salmon with sea scallops and the filet with a side of buttery shrimp scampi prepared in a white wine garlic sauce.

A wonderfully moist and rich chocolate cake finished the meal on a high note.

Located at 123 West 52nd Street, Ocean Prime is glam and vibrant, a hip place to impress clients or splurge on a memorable dinner with friends. We felt completely pampered by its attentive wait staff, which didn’t miss a beat.
