“Courting Des Moines,” a movie written and directed by the brilliant Brent Roske, a television movie producer who made the jump and relocated to Des Moines last year from Los Angeles, CA to make stories about politics. With the Iowa Caucuses being less than a year away and so many different politicians with presidential hopes are visiting and campaigning often, this film gives you a glimpse into what California politician “Samantha Clemons” is seeking and inspiring to do when she visits the first state in the nation to hold a presidential caucuses. “Samantha,” has something else in mind, her presidential bid is definitely one that you have never heard nor seen before…. With Iowa being a huge focus in today’s election period, a lot of people don’t know what the Iowa Caucuses are, people in this country end up very curious, think they have an idea and/or want to get a glimpse of it, they should watch “Courting Des Moines.”

“Courting Des Moines,” is a sequel to Roske’s 2012 “Chasing the Hill”, a fictional web series about a California Congressional campaign.“Courting Des Moines” features many of the same characters who now want to seek higher office, including “Samantha Clemons,” played by Melissa Fitzgerald, better known as her role on the hit series, “The West Wing.”  Brandon Jones from ABC Family’s hit show, “Pretty Little Liars,” Steve Lewis,  Carolyn Hennesy, Gina Belafonte, Catherine Urbanek, to just name a few.

How did you start in this business?

I performed Gilda Radner’s “The Judy Miller Show” from SNL in an elementary school acting class. I loved it and have been acting ever since. After graduating from Carnegie Mellon, I moved to LA to pursue a career in entertainment. My first credit after graduation was in writer/director Max Landis’ “The Death and Return of Superman” which inspired me to also begin writing and shooting my own content.

What has been your favorite role to date?

I play the pregnant wife of a retired NFL linebacker suffering from debilitating concussions in THE DUKE: BASED ON THE MEMOIR ‘I’M THE DUKE’ BY J.P. DUKE, opposite LaMonica Garrett (DADDY’S HOME, SONS OF ANARCHY). It was a challenging role and a compelling story, linked to a sport for which I am passionate. The film will soon premiere at the Santa Barbara Film Festival in February.

Beauty Must Haves…

Givenchy Play Intense cologne is the best scent! Even though it’s a cologne, I’ve been wearing it for years. I also don’t go anywhere without face powder and pumpkin spice Chapstick.

Beauty is….

Kindness. I think if you’re pure of heart, it radiates outward. You glow.

I am happiest when…

I am sharing great experiences with people I love. Additionally, exercise always makes me happy, especially doing spin!
