Last night at the first annual Fashion Expo celebrating student fashion collections from New York School of Design, guests were treated to hands-on workshops in fashion illustration and production to an intimate preview of finished samples from student collections – a culmination of NYSD’s signature 6 month hands-on training program in fashion design and construction. Pieces on display were representative of New York’s melting pot culture- pulling inspiration from streetwear and cultural statements to nature and Caribbean life.
The New York School of Design is a fashion focused design school located in New York’s Garment District. Since its founding in 2005, NYSD has maintained its position as the hub for intensive, hands-on training, and offers accelerated programs in fashion design to students of diverse backgrounds and nationalities. Students in the school’s signature 6 month program are able to walk away with a portfolio of finished garments – each of which are designed and sewn/constructed by the students themselves.
