What to Eat at the US Open

Every year the US Open brings tennis aficionados from all over the world to Queens, New York for two weeks of fun, sun, entertainment and food. More than any other sporting event, the US Open is widely known as one of the top dining destinations, thanks of course to the many celebrity chefs that come together to bring us the best of the best.

This year, we joined chefs Marcus Samuelsson, Josh Capon, Ed Brown, David Burke, David Chang, Masaharu Morimoto and Tony Mantuano to preview all of the food that will be served during the games. With SO many different options to choose from, it could literally take you all day to pick out what to eat, but luckily, we’re here to tell you our favorites to make the process easier.

From the Concessions:

LURE by Josh Capon has two standouts you won’t want to miss. The Lobster BLT, topped with applewood smoked bacon and Jersey tomato on brioche, with salt and vinegar chips is everything you want at the end of the summer. Those who enjoy oysters should definitely also try the East and West Coast Oysters here.

ANGRY TACO by David Burke will be serving some outstanding Pollo Tacos, made with chipotle chicken, pico de gallo, shredded lettuce and crema fresca, served on white corn tortillas.

FUKU by David Chang’s Fuku Chicken Sandwich is a great option for anyone who likes a bit of a kick. It’s made with habañero brined thigh, pickles and Fuku butter. Those with a sweet tooth can try the exclusive Double Berry Ice Cream Sandwich by Du’s Donuts and Coffee. It’s comprised of vanilla bean ice cream sandwiched between a strawberry and blueberry donut coated with strawberry and blueberry crumble. It’s refreshing and sure to be an Instagram darling at this year’s US Open. It is very sweet, though, and reminds us of Captain Crunch’s Crunch Berries. Another US Open exclusive is the 163 Burger, which includes two Pat LaFrieda beef patties topped with cheese, lettuce and special sauce, atop Hot Bread Kitchen Bing Bread.

POKE YACHTY, a new addition this year, is serving a trendy and tasty Spicy Tuna Poke bowl that fans will love.

From the Restaurants:

ACES by Ed Brown featuring Morimoto Sushi has been a favorite at the US Open for years, and this year they’ve added famed Morimoto sushi to the mix. Everything here is good, including the Tuna Tartar on Asian Crisps and Figs with Fresh Ricotta if you’re just looking for a snack.

BLT PRIME by David Burke is a meat-lover’s dream come true. We will never stop raving about their “Clothes Line” Bacon, covered in black pepper and maple. It’s drool-worthy.

MOJITO RESTAURANT & BAR by Marcus Samuelsson‘s Short Rib “ROPA” Vieja was one of our favorites. Made with caramelized pineapple, pickled red onion, crushed garlic plantains and beer-mole, it hits all the right spots.
