Ditch The Carbs?

 

There are two different kinds of carbs, ones that will spike your blood sugar immediately and ones that will not. The ones that spike your blood sugars are known as refined carbohydrates and the ones that take longer are called complex carbohydrates.

Simple carbohydrates can lead to diabetes and weight gain. The ones you should stay away from are:

  • WHITE RICE
  • PASTA
  • BAKED GOODS
  • CANDY BARS
  • PROCESSED FOODS

These foods are high glycemic and will cause an instant blood sugar spike.

Complex carbohydrates are slowly absorbed and do not spike the blood sugars immediately after ingesting:

  • BROWN RICE
  • SWEET POTATO
  • QUINOA
  • OATS

Carbohydrates are NOT evil, but you do have to eat them in moderation and you have to eat the right kinds of carbs (complex).

Your body uses carbohydrates for energy. If you are looking for weight loss, you do have to limit the amount you are eating, but can still enjoy in small amounts! Just put down the pasta and grab a sweet potato instead!
